Exoskeletons ....

We have been thinking and learning about inside skeletons. These are our bones that help us stand up. Now we are thinking and learning about exoskeletons. These are like shells and skins on the outside of animals. Insect and crustaceans have exoskeletons. When we grow our bones, muscles and skins grow with us. When an insect grows they have to shred or moult their exoskeleton because it has become too small. This is a bit like when our clothes get to small. Just imagine though if we had to shed our skin!! Scary.
