Des Hunt
Des Hunt is a brilliant kid story writer and has produced yet another great book! Des has produced 23 books many featured in NZ and about its unique wildlife, (like project huia). Did you know that Des was a teacher for 40 years! Project Huia was the best seller in 2014 and published in 1963. Project Huia (one of Des's books) has been our class novel for the last term.
Project Huia is about a boy named Logan and his granddad Jim. A lady named Anna is on a quest to bring back the huia so she teams up with Logan and Jim, as Jim lived back in the past, and used to know a huia called Olivia. Olivia was put in a crevice in a rock face and Logan Jim and Anna are off in search for her as this may bring them back but there is one problem, the Carson family. What are they going to do?
I think this is a great book recommended for ages 10 years and up. This book is full of adventure and will give you shivers down your spine. Although this book my be sad, I can promise you that there is a very happy ending and the Huia might be saved. Find out more if you read Project Huia by Des Hunt.
